Why Use This Pattern?
To display a nested hierarchy of folder or objects.
What's the Solution?
Folder tree is a hierarchical display of related folders or objects. Parent folder contains other sub-folders, they have been displayed vertically as a complete list.
For Tablets, tapping a container folder selects the folder and loads the folder's data into the content pane on the right.
For Phone, scroll and view the entire folder list. Tap on a folder to view folder details on the next screen. Tap on the Back button to go back to the previous screen.
- Hierarchies deeper than seven levels are strongly discouraged.
- Ideally, Trees will contain no more than three levels of hierarchy.
- If your application requires deep hierarchies, you may need to consider specialized functionality to support your use case.
